The Sacred Stone (Traditions)

In the traditions, a stone marks where NLi'ksEntEm first touched the ground — the centre of the country.

In the traditions collected by James Teit, the Spider said that the place where NLi'ksEntEm first touched the ground after descending from the upper world would be the centre of the earth, the centre of the Indian's country.

When NLi'ksEntEm arrived, he rolled himself upon the ground, and a stone was formed at that spot. The Nlaka'pamux kept this stone covered with earth so that others would not see it.
